Research in the area of developmental psychology focuses on the development of individuals across the life course as well as on the effects of the social, physical, and cultural contexts in which development takes place. Current research interests include child care and its effects on child development, transitions across the life course, the effects of divorce and custody arrangements, work and family, adaptive aging, culture and adolescent psychosocial development, relations between cognitive and emotional development, emotion regulation, and the development of health behavior during childhood and adolescence.
